Confidentiality & Cancellation Policy

Confidentiality Policy

As a registered practitioner with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)/British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) I abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
The client/counsellor relationship is a confidential one in which personal disclosures are not revealed to any third party, with the following exceptions:

  1. Self harm – e.g. immediate suicidal intent

  2. Harm to others (including Child Protection issues)

  3. Harm to the referring organisation of which the client is an employee (if applicable)

In the case of 1 & 2, Disclosure of Harm will be passed to your GP, who holds responsibility for your mental health. Such disclosures would be discussed with you and your permission sought if possible. However, it is important that you know that if you refuse permission, the information will still be passed on.

In the case of 3, the information will be passed back to your referring manager, also after discussion with you.

Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you need to cancel an appointment please give as much notice as possible to avoid incurring a fee.

Please note: If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment you will be charged 50% of your full session fee. If you do not attend any booked appointment that is not cancelled you will be charged the full cost of the missed appointment.
